collections
An outstanding collection recounting the stories of the men and women who suffered through the first worldwide conflict..
Assembled over nearly 40 years by acknowledged First World War expert Jean-Pierre Verney, the collection comprises around 50,000 objects and documents. As he says himself, the collection expresses “the emotions, lassitude, anger, pride, separation and many of the event’s numerous well- or little-known aspects”.
Over 200 complete uniforms representing nearly all the nations concerned, weapons and artillery, objects from the front line and the home front, heavy equipment, newspapers, photographs, glass plates, posters and postcards, prints, drawings and paintings, along with drawings, letters, prints and paintings… a collection touching upon every aspect of the Great War.
