The 2012 cultural season kicked off on 12 January with a lecture in Montceaux-Lès-Meaux by Georges Joumas on Alfred Dreyfus, who served as an officer in the Great War.
This first rendezvous marked the launch of a seasonal programme interspersed with concerts given by the Ensemble Calliopée and incorporating effective use of archive images, photographs, artefacts, etc.

Asking of music what it can bring to history, the Ensemble Calliopée, in residence at the Musée de la Grande Guerre, seeks to capture and transmit the multiple manifestations of war in the field of music and of music in the fields of battle.

The Ensemble Calliopée is a chamber-music ensemble of variable geometry – from 2 to a score of musicians, combining stringed and wind instruments, harp, piano, percussion and singers. (With the support of the Île-de-France Regional Directorate for Cultural Affairs.)

This year also sees the 80th birthday of the American Monument, “Liberty Weeping.

The event will be marked by a concert, “Made in USA”.  A warm welcome to all you Americans in Paris!
