PORTRAITS OF THE LAST SURVIVING VETERANS

How are History and Memory linked ?

Didier Pazery tries to answer this question by showing us portraits of the last surviving veterans of the Great War along with their testimonies.
This unique collection of memories is part of the museum’s temporary exhibition, and the installation uses a combination of videos and large format photographs.
These testimonies by war veterans shed light on the influence of families on soldiers’ reasons for enlisting and on the evolution of the relationships between soldiers and their families as the conflict progressed.

Who is Didier Pazery?

Didier Pazery was one of the few photographers to capture images from around the world of the last surviving veterans of the Great War. His many works have been published in the French press and internationally and have been widely exhibited.

A webdoc with a difference

This documentary by photographer Didier Pazery, directed by Oliver Morel, and originally aired on TV5 Monde, is a fascinating take on these war portraits.
