THE TERRITORY OF MEMORIES

In September 1914, Meaux entered into the First World War with the Battle of Marne.

 Many places and monuments in the area tell the story of this war and preserve traces of the battles!

 Discover the tour of the battle fields.

 

Many memorials are interspersed throughout the meldoise region:

  •  Charles Péguy Memorial and the Great Tomb at Villeroy
  • St-Barthélémy Church
  • Notre Dame de la Marne in Barcy,
  • Télégraphe Woods (Guy Hugot-Derville’s stele and the four roads monument in Penchard
  • The civilian cemetery, the French military cemetery and German military cemetery in Chambry
  • The American Monument in the hills of Meaux
